Veneers are one of the most versatile and effective non-surgical treatment methods for improving the look of a smile. The simplicity and proven performance of this cosmetic procedure have helped to boost its popularity in recent years.
Dental veneers are thin, custom-designed shells that are applied to the front surface of teeth. Veneers reshape the teeth and cover noticeable defects. Best of all, the great results can be seen instantly.
At Westchase Smiles Institute Institute, we provide support for porcelain veneers. We choose to use this material because of its strong performance and natural appearance. Porcelain is also known for being resistant to staining. Another benefit when using veneers is that the patient will not need to make any major changes to their regular oral care practices.
Patients should keep in mind that veneers are custom-made, and they will need to make at least two visits to our practice in order to receive them. The first visit gives us a chance to take impressions of the teeth and determine exactly what goals we hope to achieve by applying the veneers. The impressions we take will be forwarded to a dental laboratory so that a customized set of veneers can be created for the patient. When the veneers are ready, the patient can return to have them fitted. We will need to remove a small amount of the tooth enamel in order to accommodate for the new veneers. We will also apply etching gel to the teeth to roughen their outer surfaces so that the veneers can bond more easily. The veneers will be secured with a strong dental adhesive to prevent them from ever coming loose.
